This work appropriates lyrics from a series of Palmolive commercials that promoted skin-whitening products in the Philippines. With western beauty standards being pushed more than ever, celebrity star power and delusive jingles are used to obscure the damaging effects of their products, often without criticism. Through the beloved Filipino pastime of karaoke, the work highlights issues on racism and colorism by way of normalized skin-whitening, its connection to post-colonial syndrome, and the ongoing practice of unethical advertising.
